Samsung No 1 Mobile Phone Maker

Samsung maintained its lead as the dominant mobile-phone handset maker, helped by the release of new units, while Apple lost ground as consumers halted on purchases of iPhones.

Samsung’s market share climbed to 22.4% in the second quarter from 21.3% in the same period in 2015, according to data released by tech research group IDC. Apple’s share slipped to 11.8% from 13.9%.

At the same time, other phone makers such as Huawei, OPPO and vivo also gained market share, helped by sales in emerging markets such as in Indonesia and the Middle East.

Mystery Samsung tablet

A new Samsung tablet, carrying a model number SM-P585, has been spotted on the website of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). A quick look at the included render suggests the device comes with a stylus as well as a rear camera with a flash.
The design also indicates a display size of not more than 8-inches.

Nintendo NX is a tablet?

Eurogamer sources claim that the Nintendo NX is a handheld game console with detachable controllers, a TV base station and NVIDIA Tegra graphics. In other words, it sounds like a standalone Wii U gamepad dialed up to 11.

Specifically, Eurogamer describes the NX as a powerful, portable game console with its own display and detachable controllers on either side -- sort of like a mix between the Wii U gamepad and Razer's defunct Edge tablet. The detached controllers can apparently be used for multiplayer gaming (one side for each player) or possibly discarded for a more touch-focused tablet experience.

At home, users will be able to plug the device into a docking station and play games on the big screen, but the outlet's sources say the console will be marketed with the hook of "being able to take your games with you on the go," basically unifying Nintendo's home and portable markets with one device.

Nintendo says it can't respond to "rumors and speculation," as usual -- but Eurogamer claims we'll know more in September, when sources say the NX will be officially revealed to the public.

Oppo R9 Plus Big screen, big power, big battery

The R9 Plus has a 6-inch screen, compared to the 5.5-inch of the R9. The bigger screen has the same 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution, which means a slight reduction in pixels-per-inch from the R9 (367 vs 401), but you're not going to notice. The rear camera has been upped from 13-megapixels to 16-megapixels but, again, that's not going to change your world. (The front camera is the same 16-megapixels as the R9 -- it's a selfie-lover's dream.)What you will notice is the big in both battery and processing power that the R9 Plus offers over the R9. The Plus has the Snapdragon 652 CPU. It's a 1.8GHz octa-core chip, but what matters is that it has a big uptick in both general performance and graphics processing power over the basic R9 model. In fact, in our benchmark testing, it was up there with the Sony Xperia X and the Huawei Mate 8.

Battery life is the other big bonus. With a 4,120mAh battery, I was expecting something good, but the R9 Plus exceeded my expectations with a test result of 17 hours and 30 minutes. That makes it one of the best batteries we've seen this year.

Microsoft's canceled 3D Touch Windows phone

Microsoft was planning to introduce its own unique 3D Touch feature for Windows Phones back in 2014.
Microsoft decided to cancel the flagship and focus on the emergence of Windows 10 for mobiles. Windows Central has managed to get access to a McLaren prototype, and it looks like a mix of Nokia's Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925. Previous leaks have shown off the camera bump, and compared the device to an iPhone.
Windows Central has even reviewed the entire device, detailing its 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 5.5-inch full HD display, and the 20-megapixel camera. The most interesting aspect of the McLaren was, without a doubt, the 3D Touch features. Microsoft had been experimenting with a variety of Kinect-like features that would allow users to hover over the display with a finger and interact with apps. Some of those features also included the ability to answer calls by holding the phone to your ear, along with options to set the phone down on a table to enable speakerphone, or to hang up a call by placing it in your pocket.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date is Tuesday, August 2, according to every rumor out there and, as of this month, a Samsung Unpacked invite.
The August 2 launch event is a little under two weeks earlier in the year than the Galaxy Note 5 announcement. But it's what we've suspected for several months now. A Korean news source believes production to be starting in July - so an August announcement made sense.

Samsung typically launches its Galaxy Note flagships during IFA, which is happening in early September this year, so that's the only other possible launch date, but It may have its hands (or wrists) full with other announcements, like the Samsung Gear S3.

iPhone 7 release date

If we were betting folk, we'd bet the house on the fact the iPhone 7 will launch in September 2016. Apple sticks to a schedule and the last few iPhones have all been launched in the month of September.

Oh, there's a possibility it could be earlier, as according to a 'reliable source' Apple might actually bring it to market earlier. Sadly, how much earlier is unclear and we hear this rumor every year. It never happens.

It will take a while to finish development and manufacturer of the phone, so we wouldn't expect to see it before September. Autumn is exactly when iOS 10 is due. It just makes sense for September.

Solid Mega Phablet, Great for Multimedia and Gaming

Huawei P8 Max is a mega phablet that was launched with the Huawei P8 last year, as well as the P8 Lite. It debuted in Spring 2015 and it comes with a 6.8 inch screen. It’s priced at $449 on Amazon and shares the bulk of specs with the Huawei P8, only bigger. It’s also a Lenovo Phab Plus rival.
This model has a big metal body and looks like a bigger P8, which it actually is. It measures 6.8 mm in thickness, weighs 228 grams, which means it’s 0.4 mm thicker than the P8 and about 80 grams heavier than the P8. It’s also slimmer than the Lenovo Phab Plus and weighs 1 gram less. Somehow, this phablet feels light considering its size and it comes with a pretty solid build.
It’s great for gaming and binge watching TV shows, while its premium metal build makes it very appealing. It’s got slim bezels and aside from using aluminum, it also opts for magnesium within the chassis. Huawei used her a 7 layer setup with a heat conducting structure. There’s an antenna window at the bottom back area and the microUSB port is placed at the top, atypical for a phone/phablet.

Xiaomi's MacBook Air challenger specs are spilled

Thanks to a fresh leak, we now know more about the specs of Xiaomi's incoming laptop which bears a similar design to Apple's MacBook Air (such as its aluminum construction and tapered edge).

According to details on a spec sheet spotted by Benchlife.info, the notebook will run with an Intel Core i7-6500U processor (with a base clock speed of 2.5GHz and turbo to 3.1GHz, and a TDP of 15W).

Initial rumors at the start of the year pointed to a Core i7, but since then there was talk of cost-cutting with an Intel Atom CPU – and thankfully this isn't the case.

System memory will be 8GB and the laptop will come in 11-inch and 13-inch flavors, powered by Windows 10 (again, some previous speculation had pointed to Linux being used to save money). There will also be a USB-C port on board, which is good to hear.

Lenovo finally unveils its first Windows 10 Mobile phone

It was a little over two years ago when Lenovo announced it will release a phone running Windows Phone 8.1 by the end of 2014. Even though that self-given deadline came and passed, it is better late than never that Lenovo finally announced the SoftBank 503LV, reports MSPoweruser.

Made in partnership with Japanese technology conglomerate SoftBank, the phone features a 5-inch, 1,280 x 720 resolution display, with a 5-megapixel camera sitting above and an 8MP shooter with LED flash found around back. The only hardware buttons you will find are the power and volume buttons, as the SoftBank 503LV, similar to other Windows 10 Mobile phones, feature software keys.

Under the hood, a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 — the same chipset that powers the Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and HTC One A9, just to name a few — and 3GB RAM power the phone, with a rather meager 2,250mAh battery keeping the lights on. Thanks to the processing package, the SoftBank 503LV supports Windows Continuum, which turns the phone into a pseudo-PC. Furthermore, you can expand upon the 32GB of native storage by up to an additional 128GB through the MicroSD card slot.

Finally, the SoftBank 503LV runs Windows 10 Mobile, though it is unknown whether the phone supports Windows Hello, which lets you unlock your phone using your eyes.

NVIDIA SHIELD now meets Android 6.0 requirements

The NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet provides one of the best Android gaming experiences you can currently have, and right now an update is rolling out to the device. Following this latest release, the slate now meets Android 6.0 Professional Audio requirements. This means low latency audio, MIDI support over USB and Bluetooth, 24-bit@192kHz Stereo and 7.1 HDMI output, and other audio improvements. In-game audio should sound more responsive, and the same is true when listening to music or watching video.

Other improvements concern touch responsiveness, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, security patches, and the Vulkan API. You can also toggle nav button position. This is the same update that went out to the newer SHIELD Tablet K1 last month, and it comes two months after getting a bump up to Android 6.0.1.

Pre-Order for Axion 7 Start today

Interested buyers in the US will be able to preorder ZTE's latest marquee handset, the Axon 7, starting today. The phone costs $400 unlocked, and will ship out on July 17. You can purchase it through retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and ZTE's own online site.

The device is the company's most powerful phone yet and features a 5.5-inch display, a 20-megapixel camera and Google Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Its Snapdragon 820 processor also makes it powerful enough to satisfy Google's VR initiative. Known as Daydream, it is a hardware and software standard that Google put out to guide Android phone companies to make VR headsets.

With its low price, the Axon 7 is a great value for its specs. However, it faces stiff competition against other inexpensive handsets like the OnePlus 3. That phone features comparable hardware (like a 5.5-inch screen, the 820 processor and a 16-megapixel price tag) as well as a $400 price tag.

If you're reading this you're not catching 'em all.

I'm not sure if you've heard, but there's this new game called Pokémon Go and well, everyone is playing it. Everyone. Including you.

Out now for Android and iPhone, Pokémon Go brings the classic Pokémon into the modern smartphone world. Not only do you capture and train your Pokémon to fight others, but you can actually go out into the world and capture Pokémon — it is perhaps the most intrinsically mobile of games.

Apart from that, Verizon fiddled with their data plans, giving customers more data but demanding more money in the process — at least there's now roll-over data and throttled overages. Speaking of Verizon, the launch-exclusive Moto Z Droid Edition and Moto Z Droid Edition are coming on July 14.

BlackBerry killed the BB10-powered Classic, but don't fear — the BlackBerry keyboard is here to stay. And even though it seems like WWDC 2016 was only a few short weeks ago, but the public betas for iOS 10 and macOS Sierra are now available for you to download and try.

New builds and rumors abounded for the Windows crowd, with fresh Windows 10 Anniversary Update builds for PC And Mobile and the addition of double-tap to wake on the Lumia 950. Rumors are continuing to swirl about the next Surface, supposedly due in the fall, and the anticipated HP Elite x3 will evidently come in blingy gold.

Samsung has got some big foldable ideas

Samsung has filed more patents which could see slates that fold and fit in your pocket.

It would allow for a large screen tablet to fold over in half, much like a book. The patent features a side-screen similar to that from a Samsung Galaxy Edge phone.

That may mean you'd be able to customise the shortcuts included on the side of the phone.

The new patent describes how the technology would allow the user to enter different modes when unfolding the tablet. For example, if you wanted to boot the camera app you'd be able to press on a certain part of a side screen to unlock it.

It also shows a way to unlock the tablet with a passcode down the side screen of the tablet.

Note 7 leak reveals new features

There is a new leak circulating on the interwebs that reveals what some of the new S Pen features of the Note 7 might be. According to iGyaan.in, which has reportedly obtained an internal memo, Samsung has thrown in improved Bluetooth LE connectivity that will enhance the proximity accuracy and allow users to use the stylus longer.

The Air Command is also reportedly getting a functionality update. iGyaa claims the Galaxy Note 7 will score Dictionary and Speaking features — the first one will probably allow users to quickly translate words from one language to another, whereas the other could be a text-to-speech functionality. That's a bit speculative, yet logical.

It also seems that Samsung has redesigned the appearance S Pen stylus. While there might not be much leeway here, we suppose that the clickable button that was introduced alongside Note 5's stylus might be getting revised.

Additionally, iGyaan's secretive source claims the iris scanner will be able to lock apps, files, folders, and documents. The rumors about the Snapdragon 823 chipset making the rounds are also getting confirmed.
